GLCS AGM August 30th. Call out for new Board Members!
The GLCS Annual General Meeting is to be held on Sunday the 30th of August, drawing to a close the 2008/2009 board of management. It has been another successful year for GLCS, with a number of new initiatives, such as the WAWOW online forum for women; increased professional development training to organisations including the WA Police, and of the course the telephone counselling service which has been serving our community for 35 years.
GLCS is now looking for a fresh injection of ideas and energy in the form of new Board members. GLCS relies heavily on volunteers to keep their unique and vital frontline phone counselling and support services running, including Board members who provide strategic direction and volunteer support.

WOMEN ON WOMEN (WOW) COURSE
A revamped WOW, GLCS’s hugely popular personal development course for women will be starting in October. The WOW course allows women to explore their attraction to other women over six themed sessions.
A very wide range of women complete the WOW course and that’s one of its strengths. While many of the women are in the early stages of coming out some have been ‘out’ for years and are completing the course as a way to re-connect with the community and make new friends. We encourage a range of experience in the group because the participants learn a lot from each other.
Many women who are exploring their attraction to other women for the first time find the WOW course a useful and safe introduction to our community and social scene and a great way to meet new friends.
Since the WOW Course started in the mid 90’s, hundreds of women have taken part. Many of these women have formed long lasting friendships with their fellow participants and found a sense of community.
GLCS would love to hear from any woman who has been a part of the WOW community over the years. Share your stories, tell us what WOW meant to you and where you are now! We are planning a WOW meet up during Pride Month and would appreciate some assistance from past women of WOW.
