Mullaley, a Widi woman from the Yamatji Nation in the Midwest region of Western Australia, is taking over the reins from the long-standing and much loved, Kyle J Morrison.

The experienced theatre practitioner said she was honoured to be given the role.

“I am incredibly honoured to be selected for the position of Artistic Director of Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company. YY has, for years, been my cornerstone of Theatrical integrity and community engagement and I look forward to continuing such an inspirational legacy and building on the shoulders of those that came before me to lead Yirra Yaakin in to a new era. Exciting times.” Mullaley said.

Mullaley has a long history with the Company and is a graduate from the Aboriginal Theatre course at WAAPA in 2003.

Her first role with Yirra Yaakin was as an assistant with David Milroy on the production of Windmill Baby. Her 15+ years in the industry has seen Eva take on the roles of director, associate artist, administration, stage manager, tour manager, producer, event manager, actor, dramaturge, lecturer and workshop collaborator.

Mullaley has also been a member of the Board and part of the Next Training Program before heading off to Tasmania and Melbourne, where she immersed herself in all-things theatre.

Clem Rodney, the Chair of Yirra Yaakin, is described as being thrilled with the appointment and looking forward to the next exciting phase of the Company’s 25+ year journey with Eva Grace Mullaley steering the artistic vision of the Company.
