Entertainment icon Cher has shared that she’s worried about what will happen to marriage equality in the USA if Republican nominee Donald Trump becomes President.

‘He’s an a–hole,’ Cher said at the One Young World Summit in Ontario, Canada.

‘I don’t know how he is a candidate, he is so dangerous. What he brings to my country, what he has awakened in my country is bigotry and distrust and a certain kind of supremacy in certain groups.’

‘He’s so terrific at lying, I’ve never seen anybody so good,’ she added. ‘I could go on and on on this subject forever, because I’m so traumatised by him.’

Cher said she was worried that a Republican win would see laws that allowed gay marriage and adoption be rolled back across the USA.

The singer has been a longtime ally of the LGBTIQ community and has been an advocate for equality. Cher is the mother of Chaz Bono, a transgender actor and queer rights advocate.

Cher told the audience at the summit that she was supporting Democratic nominee Hilary Clinton.
