Two Radio Hosts Fired For Transphobic Rant

US Radio hosts Kimberly and Beck of 98.9 Buzz were ‘indefinitely suspended’ following their on-air discussion of the City of Rochester’s decision to assist in the payment of gender identity related medical procedures for their transgender and non-binary identifying workers.

The pair objected to the city’s decision to use ‘tax dollars’ on such procedures, and used Aerosmith’s ‘Dude Looks Like a Lady’ to accompany their discussion.

After 98.9 The Buzz received a number of complaints regarding the broadcast, the radio station responded with this comment.

The station’s parent company, Entercom, later confirmed that both hosts had been let go. The company gave this statement:

“This morning Entercom fired Kimberly and Beck effective immediately,

“Their hateful comments against the transgender community do not represent our station or our company. We deeply apologize to the transgender community, the community of Rochester, and anyone else who was offended by their comments. We are proud of our past work on behalf of the local LGBT community and we remain committed to that partnership.”
