Perth’s GLBTIQ community has lost a friend and supporter with the death of former City of Perth councillor, Bert Tudori. John Hyde MLA said that while younger members of our community may only remember a supportive City of Perth under Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, Mr Tudori was a minority supporter of Pride and GLBTIQ issues during more difficult times. ‘Bert’s championing of Northbridge was always inclusive- and that meant a vibrant gay and lesbian culture being celebrated,’ said Mr Hyde. ‘On a personal note, Bert was very supportive when Brian Greig and myself became the first openly gay Councillors elected in WA, and my subsequent election as the first out Mayor.’
