Sapphic Trampers

As it turns out, the Sapphic Trampers are as good on water as they are on dry land. This was evidenced by the 13 women, including some from as far away as Northam and Margaret River, who ventured to Mandurah for a kayak excursion. We left Yunderup on a variety of paddling vessels for a day of exploring the Murray River just upstream from where it joins the Peel Inlet. A tail wind made the trip down to the lunch spot relatively easy going. Gourmet lunches were had at the riverside picnic ground, which was followed by a visit to the historic Cooper’s Mill. Then it was back in the boats. We continued westward and wound our way via a sheltered and scenic backwater area to our starting point.

The Trampers have one more event for the year when, an afternoon stroll and sunset picnic with the Lesbian Walking Group. So join us on Sunday December 9 in Bold Park, 4.30pm start. To find us, turn off Oceanic Drive into Perry Lakes Drive then right into the car park of the Western Australian Ecology Centre. Bring a simple picnic and torch.
