US politician’s comical complaints about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show

A second US politician has raised concerns about musician Bad Bunny’s halftime show at the Super Bowl earlier this week.

Republican politician Mark Alford has raised concern about the singer secretly using “disturbing” lyrics. The performance was performed completely in Spanish and the MP is worried about what was said, but he’s admitted – he doesn’t speak Spanish himself.

Alford has called for an investigation, saying the incident is worse than when views caught a glimpse of Janet Jackson’s nipple 12 years ago.

“I don’t speak fluent Spanish, okay, I know how to ask where the bathroom is, but these lyrics, if it is true what was said on national television, we have a lot of questions for the entities that broadcast this, and we’ll be talking with Brendan Carr from the FCC about this. This could be much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction, let’s put it that way.” Alford told reporters.

Carr is the head of the Federal Communications Authority. Last year he made international headlines when he appeared to publicly threaten broadcaster Disney over the Jimmy Kimmel Live program.

Alford’s outrage over the performance follows on from colleague Andy Ogles who has described the performance that featured surprise appearances from Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga as “gay pornography”.

“The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show was pure smut,” Ogles declared on X, “brazenly aired on national television for every American family to witness. Children were forced to endure explicit displays of gay sexual acts, women gyrating provocatively, and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-humping the air.”

The politician went on to say Bad Bunny’s “lyrics openly glorified sodomy and countless other unspeakable depravities.”

The politician said the combination of lyrics and gyrating was unacceptable and demanded broadcasters and football officials be held to account.
