When former adult film star Brent Corrigan recently shared a photo online of his new haircut, he was hit with a wave of criticism from followers about his physical appearance.
People remarked that the actor – whose real name is Sean Paul Lockhart – was looking heavier, and a stream of insulting comments followed. What most didn’t know was that he had been through a great deal in recent years.

Corrigan took the opportunity to turn the moment into a learning experience, noting that March is Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Month and highlighting his own journey of recovery.
“Some people are saying I got fat — all from a selfie where I just wanted to share my cute new haircut. Well… I’m just grateful to be here. As a TBI survivor, it’s tough just getting through each day anymore,” Corrigan posted in response to the online trolls.
Last year Corrigan shared that the reason he had been off social media for several years and keeping a lower profile was because he had suffered a debilitating seizure that almost ended his life.
In February 2023 he experienced a massive seizure and was placed on life support.
“By some strange miracle, the incredible staff where I was being treated was able to save my life, and thus began a long period of recovery where I had to re‑learn how to do things like walking, eating, and other things that we all take for granted every day,” he wrote in an online update.
The brain injury saw him spend several months in hospital.
In his latest update raising awareness about brain injuries, Corrigan said he was grateful to his family and friends.
“Mine is an anoxic brain injury, which is one of the more severe types, and every day my family and friends step up to help me navigate the challenges. I am so grateful for them,” he said.
The former actor also commented that he is simply getting older and will celebrate his 40th birthday in October.
Twenty years ago Corrigan was one of the biggest gay adult film stars in the world. His entry into the adult film industry was clouded in controversy. Several years after his first films were released, concerns emerged that he may have been under eighteen when they were filmed. The distributor voluntarily pulled all of his early films from circulation.
His life was dramatised in the film King Cobra, with Corrigan portrayed by actor Garrett Clayton. The film presents a fictionalised version of the actor’s life, including his relationship with porn producer Bryan Kocis, who was murdered by two men in 2007.
Under his birth name the actor found success in indie films in Milk, Judas Kiss and many others. He also made a memorable appearance as Stan the Merman in Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild. Corrigan chatted to OUTinPerth about his move into serious acting in 2012.
In his social media posts Corrigan has shared that since his injury he’s developed a love of horse riding, and he posted some videos on him in the saddle traversing the great outdoors.
