Bette Midler and famous friends collaborate on protest tune ‘All You Fascists’

Bette Midler has never made any secret of her disdain for the Trump administration, and her latest release is a bold reworking of a classic protest song.

All You Fascists (Bound to Lose) sees Midler reunited with her Beaches costar Barbara Hershey. The pair starred together in the 1988 comedy-drama that spawned one of Midler’s biggest hits Wind Beneath My Wings.

The new recording sees Midler coming up with a new version of Woody Guthrie’s folk tune All You Fascists Bound to Lose which was first written in the 1940s. Midler updates the song with new political references relating to current US politics.

“You know I’ve been around a long time, but I have never lived through what we are living through now. The great Woody Guthrie wrote this song many years ago. I changed some of the words to fit our times, and I hope you’ll sing it when you are marching. Because sometimes people, sometimes you just gotta sing out!” Midler said.

Barbara Hershey’s not the only celebrity friend joining in on the action. Actor David Hyde Pierce and his husband Brian Hargrove contribute, as does Broadway stars Shoshana Bean, Marisha Wallace, Christian Dante White and a whole lot more.

The video makes references to the No Kings rallies in the USA, ICE raids, shootings in Minneapolis, the Epstein Files, and the upcoming US midterm elections. It’s quite a song-a-long.
