DJ Jack McCord

Sydney based DJ Jack McCord loves house music. So much so that some could call him somewhat of a purist. Why? Well, not only has he played house at gigs as far as London and Ibiza, but when he hits Connections on Sunday March 1 you’ll simply fall in love with his proficient banging big party sound… pure and simple.

‘It’s a bit of a cliché, but house is a feeling,’ said McCord when quizzed what exactly house is. ‘No other music excites me or moves me the same way and no other music brings people together in unity like house music. I play upfront main room house music and would describe my audio aesthetic as XL with a positive dance floor orientation. My goal is to see the club heaving.’

And heave it will. But while McCord loves house, he also appreciates what other styles bring to the mix. Electro, trance, disco, progressive, new wave, maximal, minimal, euro, breaks… they all add a unique quality, yet it always comes back to house.

‘It’s always been about house music, and it always will be,’ McCord agreed. ‘Every sound goes through its 15 months of fame and then it always comes back to house. It has such a timeless characteristic. Generally I like the new flavours that other influences bring to house music… it keeps the house sound evolving and developing which is interesting.’

Jack McCord will appear at Connections Nightclub for the Labour Day weekend on Sunday March 1st, with support from Mandy and Joby. Tickets available on the door, which opens at 10pm. Don’t leave it too late to get there – doors close 2am.
