Cory MonteithCanadian police have confirmed that actor Cory Monteith, one of the stars of the TV show ‘Glee’ was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room. The actor reportedly died of a drug overdose,

The actor, who had only recently completed a substance abuse rehab program, played the character of Finn on the popular television program.

The actor had previously openly shared his challenges with substance abuse revealing that he first entered rehab when he was nineteen years old. The actor entered rehab again this April for an undisclosed problem.

Monteith began his career appearing in minor film roles with many movies shot in his native Canada. He had a recurring role in the TV series ‘Kyle XY’ before being cast as Finn Hudson in ‘Glee’ in 2009.

Monteith has vocally supporting the gay community filming a ‘Straight but not Narrow’ public service anoucement that encouraged straight teams to consider the attitudes towards the gay community. In 2012 he co-hosted the GLAAD Media Awards.

Monteith had been in a relationship with his ‘Glee’ co-star Lea Michelle who plays the role of Rachel Berry.
