Review: Divalicious

DivaliciousThe first thought that entered my head as I sat down in a room full of people who were all at least 40 years older than me was “Oh God, this is going to be dull” – but I was wrong.

DivaLicious provided an entertaining, laugh-out-loud production full of booze-fuelled cattiness and outstanding operatic vocals which even the Tradie who tagged along with me enjoyed!

Fiona Smyth and Penny Shaw star in Divalicious as the divinely dressed and outrageously funny classical opera singers, who drink, sing and… drink their way to the top!

These sultry soprano songstresses had the entire audience leaving in stitches after their classical renditions of hits like ‘Goldmember’ and ‘My Heart Will Go On’. These two divas sure know how to put on a show!

As someone who doesn’t listen to opera I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed myself and have urged many friends and family members to go down and ensure that they see DivaLicious! Closing with their outstanding rendition of ‘Amigos Para Siempre’ the sensational sirens portrayed the importance of friendship and loyalty, leaving the audience with an appreciation and understanding of the determination these two fabulous women have to reach success in the cut-throat industry of opera. For lovers of opera, British humour and champagne this is a duo worth spending some time with.
