OUTinPerth traded emails with the busy music maker.

What does it take to be a successful DJ on a global level?

A lot of hard work, drive to get where you want to, some for of skill / talent haha, the ability to live off little sleep (most essential) and memory as you’re traveling the large amount of the time and its expensive to buy iPhone chargers in every place you go….. I’ve left at least 5 in hotel rooms.

How did the tune ‘Late at Night’ come about?

It started like most tunes do, in my bedroom. Once I’d developed the idea took it to the studio to refine and turn it into the record you hear today.

What are the essential ingredients for a good time late night?

Having an endless supply of money, an amazing mansion, celebrity guests could be a little bit of fun! But for me, friends, table, outside, summer, by the beach, few beers & great chats, is the perfect vibe!

If you could only listen to album for a week, what would it be?

Tame Impala – Currents. I’m so obsessed with Tame, its kind of creepy. Every time I see them play i’m just blown away! Oh and they’re Aussie, making them even better!

You’ve spent some time touring with Calvin Harris, what did you learn from him?

He’s such an amazing and talented guy, his work ethic is incredible and he makes incredible music. I learn little bits and pieces all the time!

Aside from your own music, what tunes are you loving at the moment?
The Aston Shuffle – Only 1
SG Lewis – Warm
A$AP MOB – Yamborghini High
Vera Blue – Hold
Safia – Embracing Me (Hayden James Remix)
Rihanna – Same Ol’ Mistakes
Cut Snake -Echo
Marcus Marr & Chet Faker – Birthday Card
OT Genasis – Cut It
Fat Joe – All the way up

You’ve got a great Instagram account, but we wondered… why Nicholas Cage’s Walk of Fame star?

HAHAHAHAHA WHO DOESN’T LOVE NICHOLAS CAGE!!!!!! I JUST POST VIBES!

What kind of town is Las Vegas?

Vegas is amazing, there are so many people coming in and out every day its crazy! People are there to party, spend money and have a good time! I’m lucky enough that I get to DJ at the worlds best club Omnia, whilst this chaos is going on around me!!!
Late at Night is available now from itunes. Find Generik on Facebook, Instagram, Soundcloud and Twitter, and check out his website.
