Christine Forster & Ian Roberts star in new music video for marriage equality

City of Sydney Councillor Christine Forster, trans activist Katherine Wolfgramme and out NRL star Ian Roberts have teamed up with singer Greg Gould for a new music video highlighting the consequences of marriage inequality in Australia.

Gould, who wrote and directed the video, covers George Michael’s Freedom as three couples navigate various obstacles faced by LGBTI couples under the current Marriage Act.

Forster, sister of former PM Tony Abbott, deals with the loss of her partner (played by Forster’s actual other half Virginia Edwards) and the realisation that their relationship is not acknowledged on her death certificate.

Roberts appears as a homophobic, abusive father who can’t handle his son’s new boyfriend, while Wolfgramme’s character is not allowed to get married due to her gender marker on her birth certificate not matching her identity.

Gould revealed on Facebook that all proceeds from sales of the track will be donated to the Yes campaign.

The results of Australia’s Marriage Law Postal Survey will be announced on Wednesday November 15th.
