Actor Jeffrey Tambor has indicated that he may quit his hit TV show Transparent following two accusations of sexual harassment.

Tambor is the latest celebrity to be accused of alleged inappropriate sexual behaviour. In recent weeks studio mogul Harvey Weinstein, actor Kevin Spacey, comedian Louis C.K. and many others have been forced to respond to similar accusations.

Trace Lysette, a transgender actress who appeared on the show says Tambor made inappropriate sexual comments and one occasion made an unwanted physical advance.

She claimed he cornered her one day on set, leaned his body against her, and “began quick, discreet thrusts back and forth against her body”.

“I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pyjamas and I pushed him off me,” she said.

A second accusation of allegedly inappropriate behaviour has been made by the actors former personal assistant.

Today the actor put out a statement denying the accusations.

“I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue,” the statement said.

Tambor said the environment around the show had now become politicised and he was not sure if he would be able to return for the show’s upcoming fifth season.

While he didn’t quit the program he said it was “no longer the job I signed up for four years ago.”

Tambor has won both the Golden Globe and Emmy acting awards for his protrayal of transgender woman Maura Pfefferman.

Before starring in Transparent, Tambor was well know for his roles in several TV series including The Larry Sanders Show and Arrested Development.
