The latest series of Channel Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here commenced on Sunday night with nine celebrities dropped into the African jungle. At the end of the show hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown revealed that boxer Anthony Mundine would be joining the show tomorrow night.

Among the cast of this year’s show is 80’s pop star Tiffany, former Australian Idol star Shannon Noll, actor Kerry Armstrong, comedians Peter Rowsthorn and Fiona Maguire, alongside footballer Josh Gibson, tennis star Bernard Tomic, model Simone Holtznagel and psychic Real Housewives star Jackie Gillies.

Mundine will join them tomorrow as the camp leader. At the end of the show a clip was played showing Mundine describe himself as someone who would have been more suited to living in the 1940’s or 1950’s.

“I should have been born in 40’s or 50’s.. their traits and their beliefs back then when the men were the men and the women were the women, not the men trying to be the women and the women trying to be the men.

Fans of the show responded to the news that Mundine would be in the show by commenting on their official Facebook page.

“Guess I’ll be watching MKR on 7 now.” one Facebook user posted, “you have just committed rating suicide … I wont be watching another second of the show” posted another.

Ahead of his entrance into the show he gave an exclusive interview to Fairfax Media where he shared his thoughts on people who are attracted to the same sex.

“My biggest fear is Allah and if Allah prohibits it, then it’s wrong,” said Mundine who converted to Islam almost two decades ago.

“I was always taught that two genders together is natural; it’s what’s meant to be. Male and male, or female and female, is just confusing to society.”

The boxer said he has no problems with individual gay people and always takes time to warn them that they should find a person of the opposite sex to partner with. Mundine said he doesn’t judge gay people, he leaves that task to God.

Mundine previously criticised the ABC for including a gay indigenous character in the TV show Refern Now.
