US approves smaller condoms after research shows real average penis size

The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the manufacture of smaller condoms after research consistently showed that the most condoms were too big for the average American man.

In the USA the smallest condom size allowed was 6.69 inches, but research has shown the average man’s penis is smaller at 5.57 inches. One of the most common reasons men give for not using condoms is that they slip off during sex, and it is hoped that by allowing smaller condoms usage will increase.

A recent report in the New York Times revealed that only a third of American men regularly use condoms, and increasing usage could reduce the number of sexually transmitted infections.

Condom manufacturers have noted that there is a marketing challenge in encouraging men to purchase condoms which are the correct size because nobody wants to buy condoms labeled small or extra small.

One manufacturer is taking on the challenge by creating custom made condoms. myONE Perfect Fit does not label their condoms as XXL, XL, L or S – instead they used indistinguishable codes. One man might be E99, another Z22.

UK company TheyFit also makes custom measured condoms and their website has specific instructions for clients on how to measure their penis accurately.
