He had been scheduled to open his Australian tour in Perth on 8 November before heading over to the east coast to play shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

In a statement tour promoter Live Nation said the performer had been forced to cancel following an injury to his foot during a concert in Dallas last month.

“Childish Gambino is not confident of being able to perform at his full capacity and deliver the shows he had been planning.” Live Nation said.

The concert organisers said they will try to reschedule the event as soon as possible and asked fans to check in to their website for the announcement of new dates.

On Thursday Childish Gambino announced he would not be able to play the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans. He was replaced by Travis Scott as the headline act.  The musician had previously cancelled the remainder of his US tour, as well as dates in Europe.

Alongside his musical career as Childish Gambino, Glover has also had a successful acting career appearing in TV shows including 30 Rock, Community and Atlanta. He also played Lando Calrission is Solo: A Star Wars Story.

To date Childish Gambino has released seven mixtapes, three studio albums and several EPs of music. His most recent release is the EP Summer Pack. Earlier this year he put out the track This is America, which came with a video that provoked discussions about gun violence and racism in the USA.
