Their currently looking after over three hundred felines and more are arriving everyday. Shockingly last week a box containing four kittens was left inside a box at their centre on a hot day where the temperature was over thirty degrees.

The four kitten, who are believed to be about 10 weeks old, are doing well and will be ready to be sent to new homes soon. Lauren Nesbitt, the Cat Haven’s fundraising and media assistant said it was fortunate the box of kittens was found quickly.

“A Cat Haven staff member found the box of kittens when a Good Samaritan altered the staff that they had witnessed a person open their car door and and leave the box of kittens at the top of the driveaway near the shelter.” Nesbitt said.  The four were quickly brought inside, given water and a health check.

The summer months are when cat’s breed, leading to an influx of new arrivals at the shelter. All cats over the age of six months are required to be microchipped and sterilized, but female cats can give birth when they are as young as four months old.

If you’re needing a new cat in your life, head to the Cat Haven to see who’s looking for a new home.
