Adapted from the smash-hit Broadway musical of the same name, the film will follow a group of down-and-out Broadway stars who head to Indiana to help out a young lesbian who isn’t allowed to attend her school prom.

Murphy’s version will star Meryl Streep as award-winning diva Dee Dee Allen, Ariana Grande as ‘mean girl’ Alyssa and James Corden as Allen’s creative partner.

The Prom will also star the multi-talented Andrew Rannells, rapper/actor Awkwafina and comedian Keegan-Michael Key.

The film is set to begin shooting this December, with a 2020 premiere on Netflix.
