The 2019 Youth Educating Peers event Technosexual World is coming up on 12th November and tickets are on sale now.
The YEP Project is a peer based sexual health and blood borne virus (SHBBV) project based in WA. YEP aims to support and educate young people on relationships, sexuality and SHBBV issues. They do this by working in partnership with the WA youth sector and building the capacity of youth workers.
In 2017, the YEP Project held their first sector summit on youth sexual health. This was attended by over 100 people from the WA youth sector.
The YEP Project is now holding it’s second sector summit. The theme of this summit is Technosexual. This looks at the role of technology, online and digital media and online spaces, including social media on youth sexual health.
The summit will explore how these topics relate to young people from a variety of backgrounds, with the aim of upskilling the sector on this very topical issue.
The Technosexual Summit is described as a highly valuable professional development experience, with tangible learning outcomes for the youth sector. The day includes presentations, interactive workshops, stalls and Q&A sessions with several experts in the sexology, youth, community and research sectors.
Some of the many organisations presenting on the day include Sexual Health Quarters (SHQ), SECCA, Young Deadly Free, Legal Aid, Dr YES, Department of Health, Murdoch University, Young Women’s Advocacy Group, Young Woman Boxing Project, Youth Pride Network, Youth Educating Peers Project and many more.

The summit is for anyone interested in improving the sexual health and wellbeing of WA’s young people, but is especially relevant for:
- Young people
- Youth workers
- Youth health promotion workers
- Youth counsellors
- Government representatives
- Law enforcement officials
- Youth and children’s legal support workers
- Youth and community sector students and volunteers in health-related fields
- Representatives from minority groups e.g. disability, CaLD, LGBTIQA+, ATSI
