The local community radio station have teamed up with Fremantle Story to create the new series of The View From Here, RTRFM’s long running video series highlighting local bands in unique and special locations.

For this series the crew heads to the port city to showcase the amazing spaces in and around Fremantle with some of Perth’s favourite musicians.

The short musical film captures Abbe May as she takes over the Fly By Night Musicians Club in the amazing Victoria Hall on High Street, Fremantle.

May, joined by KT Rumble (Bass) and Matt Wright (Drums) roll through thirteen minutes of blistering, guitar ladened classic Abbe May sounds. Constantly re-inventing herself, Abbe takes on the roll as front person better than anyone in Australia.

They roll through four songs – Are We Flirting, Like Me Like I Like You, Universe and Mamailan Locomotion –  ebbing and flowing through the sublime to the straight up rocking, showing her range as a player and a vocalist.

Subscribe to RTRFM during their Radiothon

RTRFM 92.1 will be holding their annual subscription drive this August.

This year marks 40 years of the station on the airwaves, dating back to their first iteration as 6UWA which kicked off on April 1st in 1977.

In their 40th year, the RTR gang are asking listeners and supporters to share the love and pledge support to the radio station that’s been promoting all things Western Australian for four decades.

The 10-day party will kick off on Friday August 11 on Breakfast with Caitlin, and spend Sunday Morning Coming Down on August 20.

Every program will have special guests, former presenters, local personalities and all sorts of surprises sharing the love for RTRFM.

New subscribers will also be in the running for a bunch of prizes, including RTRFM feature albums, $1000 bike package from William Street Cycle Co, $1000 gift card for Bivouac, a supreme pizza party from Mack Daddy’s Pizza and Mane Liquor and this year’s top prize – a 1.5kW home solar package from Infinite Energy.

Plus, a collection of daily prizes throughout the 10 days of Radiothon. Something for everyone while you Share the Love to RTRFM. Winners will be announced daily.

RTRFM offers subscription packages for students and concession holders, bands, businesses and families, as well as offering special bonuses to Gold & Platinum subscribers.

Each subscription category has its own associated major prize, while subscribers who pay for their subscription upfront will be eligible for daily prizes to be announced in the coming weeks. The major prize will be drawn on Saturday September 30th after the pledging period closes.

And of course, the biggest event on the Radiothon calendar, the official Radiothon Party!

RTRFM will take over Northbridge, bringing live tunes to The Bird, Ezra Pound, Tetsuo, & the State Theatre Centre with local acts Boat Show, Greivous Bodily Calm, Jooshi Mango, Puck, Reef Prince & Teen Angst and many, many more!

Keep it locked on RTRFM from Friday August 11 – Sunday August 20 for Radiothon, and party on at the Radiothon Party on Saturday August 12 at venues across Northbridge.
