The Elephant of Eastbury

A new book combining the work of poet Andrew Gates and local artist Laura Mitchell is set to be launched in Fremantle this month. Gates’ story is about of a child who visits his grandmother only to find her motionless, accompanied by a small bejeweled elephant. Mitchell has created a series of images that illustrate the work which are best described as ‘metaphorical mindscapes’. The original paintings that feature in the book will be on display at the launch at Kidogo Art House on Friday June 10th.
