Bob Dylan – Dylan – Columbia/Legacy

This album is the same old, same old when it comes to Dylan. In other words, it’s bloody fantastic. Trying to condense the best of Bob Dylan into a single disc is impossible, but this album takes listeners on a journey through some of the legend’s best efforts. The tracks are put in time order, and the music casts its spell taking listeners back to the Dylan of the 60’s and 70’s when he penned timeless social anthems, such as Blowin in the Wind, and pensive love songs, such as Tangled Up in Blue that give insight into some of the most intimate moments of a very private man. The last three tracks of the albums jump from the late 70s to a more contemporary Dylan and the spell is broken, leaving this listener wishing the album stopped with 1976’s Hurricane.–Megan Smith
