CD Review: Kindred

Burial
Kindred

Hyperdub

The dub-step deity is back with not a new album but a three tune EP that clocks in just over the 30 minute mark. Opening track Kindred, a sprawling 11 minute long composition features a catchy drum beat juxtaposed with muffled sounds and an enchanting vocal. Loner is denser, more danceable and dark. While the final track Ashtray Wasp builds to a pumping climax before crashing into a mellow soundscape of relaxed beats.   While some have complained that Burial has just released ‘more of the same’, more of Burial’s usual fare is not a bad thing.
