ExSIGHT Art Project

The Freedom Centre is in full swing for the ‘ExSIGHT Art Project’. ExSIGHT is a series of community arts workshops for young people with diverse sexuality, sex and/or gender that started in January and continues through March. The last couple of workshops will be 5-8pm on March 10 and 17.and will see the participants produce visual arts to exhibit in FC’s new Youth Art Space and it will all culminate with an exhibition launch during National Youth Week in April.

Local artists Martin Wills and Peter Farmer are working with the Freedom Centre, and will mentor the participants while facilitating the ExSIGHT Art workshops. The workshop on March 17 with Peter will look at Aboriginal art and plan the land sections of the giant mural we’ll be painting on two main walls of the Freedom Centre’s ExSIGHT Youth Art Exhibition space. The last of the workshops with Martin on March 10 will be creating the rest of the mural so the new exhibition space is brilliant and welcoming for when people come to FC.

The Exhibition will be held during National Youth Week on April 14 5-8pm. It will exhibit the art and be a great chance to support the young people in our community. If you’re under 26 and want to get involved, let us know – you can come to one or all of the workshops and help us paint the mural throughout FC sessions in March and the start of April, contact info@freedom.org.au

The Freedom Centre’s ExSIGHT Art Project and Exhibition Launch are sponsored by Propel Youth Arts WA and Healthway to promote the Drug Aware message and will be drug, smoke and alcohol-free environments.
