Flying Start To A Big Year

Everyone has been getting involved in 2011. Fundraising efforts, event organizing, community rallying and social nights have been much of our focus so far.

The highlight of March was the Equal Love Equal Marriage rally on March 19. The rally was chaired by National Union of Students (NUS) National Queer Officer Jade Eckhaus, who had the crowd in frenzy. CCQN’s affiliation with NUS meant that we had a strong turnout and presence at the rally, including five minutes on the microphone and two star performers in Rachel Discrimination and Kevin Razorline. It was great to see the event supported so well by the community.

Fundraising efforts continue for Queer Collaborations with two major fundraisers coming up in April. The first ever Miss Amanda’s Amazing Race is on April 3 2011. Teams of two will race through the streets of Perth, competing in 11 legs. One team will be victorious, crowned the winner. If this sounds fun and you’d like to register, please send your details to queer@the-guild.com.au. Registration per team is $10.

The CCQN Quiz Night will be held on the April 7 at 7.00pm at the UWA Tavern. The competition will be pretty tough as some of our collective members are still riding a euphoric wave after winning the Pride WA Quiz Night. Tickets are on sale now, so get in quick by emailing ccqnwa@gmail.com
