Gaga's Ad Removed From New Zealand's Buses

Gaga BusA new Zealand Bus company has agreed to remove advertisements promoting Lady Gaga’s new album ‘ARTPOP’ following complaints from the Family First Christian group.

“We expect this raunch culture from shock artists like Lady Gaga, but to display it on a public bus often used as a school bus is unacceptable. The image simply objectifies women as sex objects and is part of the agenda of a pornified music world,” said Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ.

Following the Family First group raising concern the Howick and Eastern Bus Company have asked the advertising company that supplies the advertising for the buses to remove the Gaga advertisement.

The group is calling for the the New Zealand government to review and tighten codes around television advertising, billboards and outdoor advertising, including pre-vetting and to review the classification of music videos and video games specifically with regard to sexualised imagery.

Lady Gaga’s new album was officially released today.
