GRAI, (GLBTI Retirement Association Inc), in partnership with Curtin University, has been continuing its research project Accommodation options for older Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex (GLBTI) individuals. Support for this research project is through a Lotterywest Social Research Grant.

A state-wide survey conducted late last year explored current practices and attitudes of WA retirement and residential aged care providers with regards to older GLBTI people. These findings have informed the development of Best Practice Guidelines which will provide practical strategies to the providers of retirement and residential aged care so that they are better able to recognise, understand and meet the specific needs of older GLBTI people.
