HAPPY PRIDE!!!

The 2010 Pride Festival will be fantastic with something for everyone.
From the time the gates open at Fairday to the last float down the Parade route there are events planned to cover all tastes.

This year we are having a larger focus on our youth and they will have their own special event, as well as being more included in the Festival.

Chef Sophie Budd is holding three special evenings for Pride and there is a great variety of films and theatre, as well as events run by our community groups over the three weeks.

Everything is detailed in the Pride 2010 Festival Guide which is available now and which can also be accessed on our website www.pridewa.asn.au.

CITY OF PERTH PRIDE FAIRDAY ……….SATURDAY 9 OCTOBER 2010
PRIDE FESTIVAL…………………………….9 – 30 OCTOBER 2010
PRIDE PARADE ………………………….. ….SATURDAY 30 OCTOBER 2010
PRIDE PARTY……………………… ….… .. SATURDAY 30 OCTOBER 2010
PRIDE WOMENS PARTY…………….…….SATURDAY 30 OCTOBER 2010

In addition we are introducing a
YOUTH PARTY ………………………….…..SATURDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2010
This will be strictly for those under 18 years old.

Fairday this year will be a true family day with more entertainment and activities for little ones.

There will also be a great variety of stalls, food outlets and entertainment.

Come along, bring a picnic and have a great day out with friends – but please remember you can’t bring any glass or alcohol into the area.

One of the questions we get asked most is:

‘Why do you charge entry for Fairday? Isn’t it just to make money?’

If that was the case we would gladly give free entry – and participation – to everyone. Pride has to pay for all the infrastructure and equipment needed to put on Fairday.

There are also requirements attached to the permits for Fairday – and the other festival events including the Parade, which have to be paid for (how many of you have to pay over $12,000 in public liability insurance?).

We also have to pay for staff to man the bars and the gate in the event we do not attract enough volunteers, as well as providing security.

In all we have to find around $150,000 just to put Fairday on.

The only way we can balance the books is to make a modest charge for people to attend to ensure that we are able to continue putting on Fairdays into the future.

So we really do rely on your support and attendance on the day to really make it a HAPPY PRIDE. We look forward to welcoming you there.

Details of these events – and everything else Pride can be found on our website
www.pridewa.asn.au.

As always your ongoing input is important to us so please contact us at pride@pridewa.asn.au with any ideas and suggestions.
