Iron Man is Coming to Your Shop Window

1482_IMG_3417_2_3_EFUL_IMAGE[1]For those of you that want to experience a taste of Fringe World without having to part ways with your hard-earned cash, we have a suggestion.

There are a plethora of free shows going on during the month long festival. One that has really caught our eye is ‘Iron Man’, or more specifically ‘The Shop Window Ironing Strip Show!’

Showing at a window near you, IRON MAN will be delivering his services to the public, with the help of his enigmatic yet exploitive pimp Miss Fanny La Rue. IRON MAN will be demonstrating some bicep-flexing-ironing-erotica.

The 35 minute show is a tongue-in-cheek exploration into gender roles and the sex industry, it has been constructed by award winning performance artist and pornography studies graduate Dosh Luckwell.

Concepts explored include:

What happens when we put a man behind the rose tinted glass? Is he empowered or disempowered? Is he expressing masculinity or femininity?

‘I don’t have the answers to these questions’, says Luckwell.

‘I simply want to create the scenario and see how people respond to it. What’s more, I’m a starving artist and need to earn my keep!’

IRON MAN will be showing on the 13 and 14 Feb at 224a William Street, Northbridge (Next to Exotica) from 9pm.
