At just twenty-seven years old, Joel Creasey is one of Australia’s most popular, acclaimed and charmingly controversial stand-up comedians.

He’s opened for Joan Rivers, he is the co-host of Eurovision, a regular on television, sells out his Comedy Festival shows around the world and shot to fame from his stint on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here.

The book has already made headline around the country. An extract published in the newspapers revealed that Joel once had a regular hook-up with an AFL player.

Thirsty has been described as acerbically funny, and full of his most personal, hilarious, joyous, heartbreaking, outrageous, ridiculous and scandalous stories.

From what it’s like to be growing up gay in suburban Australia, with parents who understand the call of the spotlight – his mum was a West End actress, his dad starred in the famous Solo Man advertisements and both his parents were extras in Star Wars – to his early life at school, finding his comedy and what life is like on the road now.

From the ridiculous (visiting the anti-gay capital of Australia) to the sublime (opening for his idol Joan Rivers), this is the story of a hopeless romantic who believes women should run the world and men should just kiss him.

When Creasey chatted to OUTinPerth a few months ago he shared that he was working through all his adventures and working out which ones could be committed to print.

Catch the acid tongued prince in person at Boffins on Wednesday night. Tickets are available from the bookshop’s website
