Mel B says Spice Girls Australian tour is not confirmed

Spice Girls fans rejoiced yesterday when news emerged that the superstars may be touring Australia, but one member has backtracked on their claims.

Mel B was caught on camera saying “We’ll see you in February in Australia!” at the group’s final show at Wembley Stadium. Speaking to 2Day FM today, the Spice Girl says she was just being hopeful.

“You know me by now. I always say the Spice Girls are going to continue and continue and tour the whole world,” Mel B said this morning.

“My thing is, and I’ve got a bee in my bonnet about it, is that we need to come to Australia first out the gate. I announced it on stage, yes, without everybody else signing off 100 per cent, but I figured if I put it out there maybe it’s going to happen.”

Host Ed Kavalee also asked Mel B if the girls would consider recruiting Aussie singers to make the group a quintet again – with the absence Victoria Beckham among the reunited stars.

“We did that about that … when Victoria was not up for performing,” Mel B continued.

“We just thought, you can’t replace anybody in this group.”
