Monopoly – Perth Style

DSC_0189Perth’s own version of the popular board game Monopoly was revealed this morning at Fremantle Prison.

Kings Park was revealed to be the top spot on the board following months of voting by locals through Facebook. Other top spots on the board were awarded to Fremantle Markets, The Swan River and The Bell Tower.

Perth is the first city in Australia to get a customised version of the game and the transformation is not limited to the names of the properties, references to local banks are within the community chest, as well as local surf spots like Trigg beach.

The reveal was made by Fremantle Mayor Dr Brad Pettitt who shared his own childhood experiences of the game. Also present for the launch was the character Mr Monopoly and former Monopoly world champion Greg Jacobs. Mr Jacobs suggested going for the brown set first as a winning strategy.

On the Perth board the brown properties have been assigned to Perth’s Council House and the Town Hall.

Back in the OUTinPerth office the team have the new board a spin, with Business Development Manager Ryan Boldison proving he was the best property mogul of the team.
