Nat Ripepi: Plays the UK

Nat RipepiAs Nat Ripepi told OUTinPerth, ‘I always wanted to be a rock star. [Growing up] Tennis rackets, hockey sticks, everything was an air guitar.’ The Perth-based singer-songwriter, who names Tori Amos and Jeff Buckley among her favorite musicians, recently moved one step closer to her goal when she secured a grant from ArtsWA to tour the UK. Nat leaves in July and already has shows lined up in Brighton, London, Birmingham, Cambridge, Manchester, and Liverpool as well as a stop in Ireland. However, she’s not packing her bags just yet. She plans to finish her new, as of yet untitled CD and to fit in a trip to Sydney before going.

When finally she does get to the UK, she will make the most of the opportunity by promoting her CD, looking for international distributions, and building a broader UK following. But the trip won’t be all business; Nat is looking forward to enjoying the British scene, especially at Brighton Pride, where she’ll be playing the women’s tent for the fourth time.

In addition she appears as a guest singer for the cover band Airbag on Thursdays at the Foundry and Fridays at the Ruby Room. Further information can be found online at www.myspace.com/natripepi.
