Property Review: House of Love

Well you’ve had the first date. Which means your next date is clearly with a moving van. Problem is, who gets to budge up their precious collection of vintage erotica that is so perfect just there make way for the extra power tools? And who can’t bring their favourite purple couch because the green one that goes with the rug is just fine thanks and it is soooo right just over there where it’s always been?

At this stage of the commitment cycle there’s quite obviously only one solution – give up the separate rentals and pitch in to buy your first place so both of you can start afresh. If you’re looking around for that perfect first pad you probably need to take a look at this neat 3 bedder in Bayswater that just screams ‘perfect first home’.

This compact fibro located mere moments from Bayswater Village (hello best ever grilled fish and chips!), is probably even more of a catch than the new lover. If your shopping list includes polished boards, open plan kitchen, two bedrooms plus neat study, side access to lock –up garage,air-conditioned lounge and fresh paint in contemporary colours, then you pretty much can stop right here under the shady Mulberry tree in the front yard because you’re done looking.

Out back there’s enough backyard to suit any kind of gardener – exactly the right amount of earth for green thumbs to create an oasis, yet not so much that that the withered brown and aphid infested thumbs can’t keep it looking neat for the in-law inspections. It’s nice that it comes with a huge back patio too – big enough to invite both your sets of friends/ exes, which makes the housewarming party a breeze.

The really puzzling thing about Bayswater is the extent to which it seems to be cheaper than surrounding suburbs. Your new love-nest is ten minutes from the city, and close to bird sanctuary as well great ‘family’ dog exercise areas along the river. What’s more brilliant is that you can sell the second car – the train goes from one end of the street, the circle route bus – handy for the universities – leaves from just down the road, and there’s great cycle paths to the city and around the river close by.

  • Agent: Max Comben, Century 21, 0419 955 665
