Record #2 – Simon Morel – Wildcat

Record #2Simon Morel was born in England and is now based in Sydney so his take on Brit power pop with an Oz twist is well founded. This is his second album but he has been around in the music business, on both sides of the world, for a long time, about 15 years. There’s a definite sixties feel to this but it doesn’t really rock out due in part I think to the fact that Morel’s voice lacks a bit of punch. His singing is, however, well suited to the stand out track Give Me a Reason ,a power ballad that sounds a bit like The Whitlams. The opening song Tomorrow’s Maybe is another of the highlights. Michael Carpenter, who also plays a variety of instruments, produced Record #2.
