SceneOUT #92

Rumour of the month? That The Ellington Jazz Club will be starting up a gay night on Tuesday nights, apparently kicking off from Tuesday April 14th. No other details yet, but there will be… there will be!

On Thursday April 9 why not go down to the local pub and do something a little different. That’s right, from 5pm The Court Hotel have a larger than life After Work Easter Egg Hunt happening. There will be a whooping number of eggs (now mOther did ask Bree how many exactly – we always like numbers – but all Bree revealed was that there would be ‘oodles’, which is comparatively loads more than lots and heap more than heaps… I’d be going for mid-triple figures) hidden throughout the entire venue plus there will be DJs all night long plus there’s no work tomorrow plus there’s so much chocolate plus you can bring a basket and finally skip around the venue unleashing your inner gay. Oh, wait….

Are you looking to build on your manliness? Want to erect a big monument in your honour? Sounds like you need some Construction! No, not the kind where they shrink your chin, prop up your pecs, do the eye flap thing and throw in some good rhinoplasty… although I’m sure one or two of you are already going for your second round (no names here, naturally, but if you send me an email…). Anyway… it seems Connections are getting into the Construction theme with a men’s night that is sure to have you craning your neck at some jaw dropping sights… such as hot muscle shows and boy dancers galore. Stuck for what to wear? Ask mOther’s brother for some styling tips, the only time his fashion advice will ever reign over mine (oh he’s going to kill me for saying that – at least I can run in high heels). Construction kicks off on Thursday April 9 at 9pm with Johnni P making his debut at CNC while Brian and Tim belt it out on the night. Expect the room to be transformed into a down and dirty bunker.

Good Friday. So good in fact that nothing is open. Not even at midnight that night. Not even at 1am the following morning. And by proxy not even at 2am. That’s to dispel the rumours that inevitably rise from the dead every Easter. Good Friday… what’s so good about it?

Easter Saturday at The Court just got a whole lot sweeter! Why? Think chocolate cocktails! Yes, chocolate cocktails. So many chocolate cocktails. And if you hadn’t had enough chocolate all weekend, guess what: there will be chocolate cocktails. I’m salivating already.

Easter is all about the eggs… and the two extra days we get to party as though we’re getting nailed. Speaking of which, Saturday night at Connections is Co-ED, a night for boys and girls and everyone in-between with Reuben and Brian and more banging out the tracks like rabbits going for it. Apparently there will be hundreds – count them – hundreds of Easter eggs giveaways all night. And as if that sugar rush wasn’t enough there will be bunny boys and bunny girls hopping around with random prizes for those standing out from the crowd. And by that mOther means those who put a little effort on and dress up to dress out. And by random prizes mOther does not mean Myxomatosis. Although for some of you….

Easter Sunday is the perfect day to rise from the dead and get ready to do it all over again! Yes, strap on those bunny ears and get ready to hop on down to The Court for some super crazy Easter egg madness with games, games, games galore ready for you to sink your paws into. Oh, and get ready that night for the Playboy Bunny party that happens that night with even more awesome prizes available for the best dressed bunnies.

Get your Mohawk on and pierce that kitty, Lick Events return to Connections with a new women’s night called Pussy Punked. It’s girls on girls with girls and more girls… and then a few extra girls thrown in for good measure. Add a lady or two and healthy dose of women and you have a night sure to delight. DJs Michy-to-da-T, Cinnamon and Hustler slam out the tracks while the shows are sure to… titillate. Expect live graffiti from Nuzzy too! Easter Sunday from 9pm.

Easter long weekend sees ZOO crack open the eggs and unleash it’s own iconic mix of mayhem and madness. The best bit? Besides the shows? Besides the music? Well, it’s the fact that it’ll be fully airconditioned! Yes, you can now get sweaty without getting too sweaty.

Did you miss out on taking your same sex sweetheart to your school formal? Did the teachers look down their noses and make you vastly uncomfortable when you rocked up with your same sex lover? How about if you didn’t even take a same sex partner but just expressed your sexuality either by dressing up in what they deemed an outrageous manner? Not that there’s anything outrageous about a girl in top hat and tails. Well, now you have the opportunity to turn back the clock and turn back time and get ready to go to your High School Formal when The Court Hotel presents Gay Prom 2009! Yes, rent that tux and hire that limo and get ready to ask that spunky jock / edgy rock chick out. Dress in either formal or fairytale because, after all, it should be a night of fairytale romances. Sigh. There will be taffeta, there will be punch, there will the chance to have your photographs taken and no doubt there will be the King and Queen of the Prom too! There won’t be any nasty homophobic teachers, moronic fellow students who just don’t get it, nor any of those embarrassing Carrie moments involving a quart of pig’s blood. So get ready to get whisked away when Gay Prom 2009 happens on Sunday April 26th at 6pm.

Time marches on never ending / time keeps it own time / here we stand at the beginning… I bet you know the rest! If you don’t then it’s Time & Time Again by Julie McKnight (www.myspace.com/juliemcknight), a diva whose tracks will have you up and dancing on the floor. And guess what? No, not that. Yes, that – Julie McKnight is heading to Connections to play a mega live set sure to leave you thrilled on wattage. She’ll be there on the ANZAC Day long weekend so make sure you there. Oh… and we do have FOUR DOUBLE PASSES plus extra special stuff for you to win. All you have to do is go to www.www.outinperth.com/index.php/giveaways and register and then cross your fingers and cross your toes and wait for the phone to ring when mOther will go ‘Guess what dearie? You’re going to go and see Julie McKnight… for free!’. That’s all you have to do. So go do it. Now.

Ah, June. So far away yet so close. So much so that I might as well let slip that in June Rozalla of Everybody’s Free fame will be appearing at Connections on the Queen’s Birthday.

Love, dipped in chocolate…

mOther
