The One with the Girl

The One with the GirlSoto Espresso in Mt Lawley was a buzz last Wednesday night with the opening of the second exhibition for two of WA’s rising stars on the art scene, Leon Krasenstein and Pippa McManus.

The works by these two young artist were up for sale on the night and within 1 hour, 10 of the 14 pieces had been sold. The works, most notably in the style of pop art meets fashion, make use of vivid colours and fine lines.

The exhibition entitled, ‘The One with the Girlâ? features only female studies that vary in colour and style. The colours are sharp pinks, blues, reds and greens with each work offering up different hues of each. The psychodelic patterns that make the back drop for the works are as varied and ‘trippyâ? as any wallpaper of the 60’s.

An endearing element is that the works are all signed, with the very cutesy nomenclature of LvsP, which can be found in the bottom right hand corner of every piece.

The gaze in the eyes of each of the vamps adds depth to the works and allow the admirer to ponder, ‘Is she looking at me?â? Together with the eyes, the mouths of the girls are truly the most resonating elements of each piece.

The works are generated via computer technology and then are painstakingly painted, focusing as mentioned on different hues of the one colour.

LvsP works can be found in some the hippest places in Perth, from the walls of the Brisbane Hotel to covering every inch of surface space at Geisha Nightclub.

Even though many of the pieces sold on the night, the girls of LvsP will stay adorning the walls of one of Perth’s swankiest café’s, Soto Espresso on Beaufort Street, for the coming month. So if you’re in the area make sure to drop in and be surrounded by beautiful women. Now you’re talking!
