Various – The DFA Remixes. Chapter One, DFA

DFAReleasing an arsenal of material that even on their worst days is better than most labels on their best, DFA (Death From Above) have been much in demand for the first half of the noughties for their signature production aesthetic. With an attention to deconstruction and detail, the duo turns out remixes that are unique and detached from their origin with a touch of the live about them. This ethic is a rare commodity in the dance world, where only a few ascend to such notoriety on the strength of remixing. Chapter One is the beginning in a series of compilations that focus on the early cream of the crop of DFA remixes. Whilst remix compilations are normally erratic and mildly unfocused, that’s certainly not the case here. You would be hard-pressed to find another dance disc in 2006 that rivals this level of quality.
