Voting is now open for The Proud Awards 2019

The fourth annual Proud Awards are just around the corner, and public voting is now open for one week ahead of the glamorous ceremony.

The awards, established by Proud Entertainment Group, celebrate the best of local LGBTIQ+ artists and talent, as well as venues and community spirit.

The event’s creator Dean Misdale of Proud Entertainment (AKA Feminem) says he decided to put the event together to celebrate the work of the west coast.

“The awards came about because we didn’t have anything like it currently happening in Perth,” Misdale told OUTinPerth last year.

“Most other major cities around Australia have a similar type event and I wanted to Perth to have a night where those in the community can be recognised for their creative and community based work.”

Public voting will be open for one week, with categories for favourite DJ, drag performer, venue, new drag talent, variety show and more.

Other awards are deliberated on by a panel of local judges, including the Hall Of Fame award honouring commitment to WA’s LGBTIQ+ community. Past winner include DJ Seb Sharp, avant-garde performance artist Strykermeyer and STYLEAID founder Mark Reid. This year’s entrant will be announced very soon!

This year’s celebrations will be hosted by past Entertainer of the Year winners and Drag Factory divas Scarlet Adams and Alexas Armstrong, with entertainment from local favourites throughout the evening.

You can vote online here. Voting closes on Monday 9th September.

The Proud Awards will be held at Connections Nightclub on Saturday 5th October. Tickets available here.
