WA Gay & Lesbian Liaison officers MIA

In December South Australia’s Blaze Media reported that 16 Gay and Lesbian Liaison officers would take up duties with the South Australian Police force (Blaze Media 8th December 2006). OUTinPerth was curious as to the fate of the Police Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officer position or subsequent ‘Diversity Officer’ roles with the Western Australian Police. Calls to the Gay and Lesbian Liaison line ended up in the Corporate Research and Development Department. Whilst they were happy to help if needed, OUTinPerth understands that the fate of gay and lesbian liaison is currently under review during restructuring in the WA Police force. We’ll keep you posted.
