What do we know about Madonna’s ‘Confessions II’ album

Madonna’s Confessions II album is still months away from release. The singer’s first record in six years – the longest gap between Madonna albums – will arrive on 3 July.

So far, two tracks from the record have been released, although Madonna and producer Stuart Price have previewed several others at advance listening parties and during a recent appearance at The Abbey in West Hollywood. The new album is a follow-up to Confessions on a Dancefloor, which was released two decades ago.

We also know the names of most of the tracks because they appeared on posters around London. Madonna even posted a video of herself gluing some of them up.

What songs have been released?

I Feel So Free was our first taste of the album. Madonna first shared the song via online radio station iHeartRadio, with its Pride channel playing the track at the top of every hour for 24 hours. The song then became available on streaming services.

The following day, Madonna was a surprise guest at Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella set, where they performed a live rendition of Bring Your Love, their duet from the upcoming album. They also sang a couple of classic Madonna tracks. Bring Your Love is now available to download and stream.

Who has Madonna collaborated with on the new record?

Madonna’s main collaborator is Stuart Price, who was the primary producer on Confessions on a Dancefloor. Price is a musician in his own right with his band Zoot Woman, and he has produced albums for Seal, Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys and The Killers. He has also remixed countless tracks under various monikers, including Thin White Duke, Paper Faces and Jacques Lu Cont.

Arca is listed as a co-producer on I Feel So Free. A remix version of the song has also been released, featuring South Korean DJ Peggy Gou.

Italian production duo Parisi are credited as co-producers on Bring Your Love. They have previously worked with Fred Again, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello.

So far, Sabrina Carpenter is the only confirmed guest on the album, although there have been persistent rumours about other collaborators, including Kylie Minogue.

What songs have been sampled on the first two tracks?

I Feel So Free credits house music legend Li’l Louis, as it uses elements of his track French Kiss. Bring Your Love samples elements of Inner City’s Good Life. Both tracks were club hits in the late 1980s.

Are there any videos for these new tracks?

Madonna reportedly filmed a large-scale video project in London several months ago, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Gwendoline Christie and Kate Moss spotted on set.

The shoot was reportedly for the first six tracks on the album and was directed by TORSO, the creative partnership of David Toro and Solomon Chase. The resulting film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on 5 June in New York City.

What track names have been announced?

The announced tracks are I Feel So Free, Good for the Soul, One Step Away, Bring Your Love, Danceteria, Read My Lips, Everything, Love Without Words, Bizarre, School, Fragile and My Sins Are My Saviour.

Fragile and Forgive Yourself are reportedly about Madonna’s relationship with her younger brother Christopher. He worked closely with Madonna for decades before a major falling out, after which he wrote a tell-all book about her. Christopher died in 2024, and Madonna has said they reconciled before his passing.

Danceteria takes its name from the New York City club where Madonna got her big break. She famously gave her demo cassette to DJ Mark Kamins, who played her track Everybody. The song went on to become her first single, with Kamins as producer.

The standard edition of the album features twelve tracks, while the deluxe edition includes sixteen. That leaves four tracks yet to be revealed.
