Who Are Hootenanny?

Two girl band Hootenanny are stirring up the local music scene with unprecedented energy. The duo consists of Jennifer Aslett on guitar and Nanywyn Hunton on drums, both are responsible for the vocals (yes, Miss Hunton sings and drums).

Smashing out sets all over Perth since 2010, the folk-singing rock band describe their gigs as ‘not so much a social gathering as a demolition party; not so much folk singing as frenzied howls, growls, and hollers, a relentless flailing of fur covered limbs’.

The girls shot their video for Elephant Woman in August, featuring local drag identity Miss DD Demerits.
