Nerdy Burlesque Reveals Hidden Surprises

2250_ANT_0519-Edit-Edit_EFUL_IMAGEFringe World has many shows that focus on the art of burlesque. So many that it should really get it’s own section in the festival guide.

There is one show however that has a distinctively different focus and that is ‘Live Nerds Nerds Nerds’. It burlesque for people who have a love of comic books, sci-fi and computer games.

The late late night show is hosted by Ayden Doherty, the transvestite space pirate from the future, who has is own Fringe show in a few weeks.

Six performers graced the stage, each one  little different, each one finding a cheeky and innovative way to remove their costume.

Without giving too much away, all we can say is we’ll never see some children’s cartoons the same way again, Daleks have never been sexier and we know know what it’s like to date a super hero.

US Performer Pretty Boy Rock stood out from the crowd with his extended monologue about relationships.

We were impressed by Pirateman Michael Speranza dressed as David Bowie as the Goblin King in Labyrinth. It takes quite a lot of guts to get on stage and play with your balls.

This was a real late late night show, it was messy, slightly anarchic and probably best viewed with alcohol. Different performers are appearing each night so if you enjoy it, you can go again and see something slightly different.

‘Live Nerds, Nerds, Nerds’ is on until February 3rd, head to www.fringeworld.com.au for tickets.
