John Grant to play at Fremantle Arts Centre

For years musician John Grant has lamented to OUTinPerth that he never gets to play shows on the West Coast.

He’s toured Australian many times, but like so many artists promoters only book shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. That’ll change next year when he plays a show at the Fremantle Arts Centre on Saturday 15th March.

The tour is to promote his sixth and most recent album, The Art Of The Lie.

Grant first came to prominence in the indie band The Czars, but since they split in 2006 he has released a succession of intriguing and genre defying solo albums. He’s also opened up about being gay and living with HIV.

His most recent work has gotten rave reviews and has been described as a new direction in the musician’s career with many critics highlighting its unexpected funky sound.

If you’re not familiar with his past work, check out Queen of Denmark (2010), Pale Green Ghosts (2013), Grey Tickles, Black Pressure (2015), Love is Magic ((2018), Boy From Michigan (2021) and his most recent offering The Art Of The Life.
