A new playgroup for rainbow families is launching south of the river this June, offering a welcoming space for connection, community and play.
Jelly Tots Early Learning Centre in Mundijong will host the sessions in collaboration with Playgroups with Pride WA, with the first gathering set for Saturday 6 June. Sessions will run monthly to begin with, from 9.30am to 11.30am on a Saturday.
Centre Manager Alicia Fieldgate said the team is proud to support the initiative and help create a more inclusive local community.
“We are excited to expand our services and help create a space where rainbow families feel seen, included and part of a broader community,” she said.
“We want to create an environment where parents and children can build friendships and feel supported.”
The playgroup has been driven by strong community interest, particularly from families in Perth’s southern suburbs looking for more local opportunities to connect.
Joanne Boyling from Playgroups with Pride WA said the new group reflects growing demand and ongoing momentum across the community.
“It builds on recent momentum, with increasing attendance at family events and expanding connections in both metropolitan and regional areas,” she said.
The playgroup will be held at Jelly Tots Early Learning Centre, 38 Paterson Street in Mundijong. Families can simply turn up on the day, with no registration required, or call 0404 588 303 for more information.
