Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has expressed his dismay towards President Barack Obama’s support of gay marriage, stating that it will not change Malaysian policies. Razak claims he is ‘disappointed’ by Obama’s stance, insisting that it is an opinion that only applies to the US.

During a recent visit to the US, Razak allegedly communicated his position to Obama through a secretary.

Malaysian policies on LGBT are at a standstill, with government stating ‘[they] will not compromise or work together with any parties in or outside of the country to recognise the LGBT community and its rights.

Frustrations of the Malaysian LGBT community increased when a recent LGBT gathering was disallowed, deemed ‘insensitive to the religion and culture of the local society’ by authorities.
