Andy Bell – Getting Tested Saved My Life

Andy BellErasure singer Andy Bell has spoken out during World AIDS Awareness week about his personal experience with HIV.

Speaking to Gay Star News, Bell said getting the test had saved his life.

The sooner you find out whether you are positive, or negative, the sooner you can start your combination therapy and get the virus under control and live your life normally,’ said Bell.

Bell was diagnosed with HIV in 1998 and shared his status publicly in 2004.

Encouraging people to get tested for HIV regularly, and on to medication sooner, is a central strategy of the ‘End HIV in WA’ campaign which was launched by Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi earlier this week.

Men can be tested at the M-Clinic, the test can also be conducted by any General Practitioner doctor.
