Band member Rob Ferrari told OUTinPerth about what it means to the Pimps to be involved in PrideFEST.

“We’re a socially aware band and we like to express ourselves. through the music and to play at Pride, it’s almost like a dance protest. It feels like it’s where we should be. To us it feels like we’re in the right spot because we have songs about standing up for yourself and not just accepting the social norm. We have songs about having a great time. We have songs about love.

To be playing at Pride, to have people playing and dancing and enjoying that and delivering that and being a part of that is a huge deal.”

So what can we expect from The Pimps of Sound? Ferrari explains:

“Bangin’ party tunes, killer stage show, and just a good time. Expect to bring your dancing shoes.”

Ferrari has attended Pride before, but this is his first time playing. Luckily, the Pimps have come prepared.

“We actually wrote new house tunes just for this event. I don’t want to give away too much [Laughs]. If you’ve seen the Pimps of Sound before, I think you can know there’s going to be an explosive stage show. We’ll just leave it at that.”

See Pimps of Sound and join in their protest of dance at the Urban Orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre after the pride parade.
